I would love to see GWB bounce Rummy out of the Secretary of Defense post and appoint General Tommy Franks to that job!

You should all read Tommy Franks book, "American Soldier." You may be surprised at just how in sync he and Don Rumsfield are. Keep in mind, it was Franks that planned the operations in Iraq and Afganistan. Rumsfield (and the President) just approved his plans and provided the resources.

I like them both.

rd2thbn makes a good point, though I think Franks would take a slightly different approach. Rumsfield and Bush did ask questions and make changes including the initial strike on Saddam that started the war early.

I really enjoyed reading Franks' book.

I read American Soldier and stand by Tommy Franks for Secretary of Defense! Yes, he did the war plan! Yes he understands the terrorist trash and their motives!

As a military man myself, I don't really like Rumsfeld. I'd rather see a former military man in that spot. Retired military that is... they tend to take better care of us, because they've lived the life.
