SOCIAL SECURITY:

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the

Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be

completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay

1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into

the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to

put into the Program would be deductible from their

income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the

independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the

General operating fund, and therefore, would only be

used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program,

and no other Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees

would never be taxed as income.

Since many of u s have paid into FICA for years and

are now receiving a Social Security check every

month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed

on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal

government to "put away," you may be interested in

the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from

the independent "Trust" fund and put it into the

General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the

Democratically-controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax

deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social

Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the

"tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the

Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving

annuity payments to immigrants?

MY FAVORITE :

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic

Party Immigrants moved into this country, and at

age 65, began to receive SSI Social Security

payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments

to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and

violation of the original contract (FICA), the

Democrats turn around and tell you that the

Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens

believe it!

Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during

this 2004 election year!

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of

awareness will be planted and maybe good changes

will evolve.

Keep this going clear up through the 2004 election!!

We need to be heard!

I read my latest Social Security statement and about had a cow. My retirement age has been moved to the right another 6 months. Seems that neither candidate has taken this issue seriously. I watched all the debates and relatively little time was spent on it. They dwelled on the war and tax cuts. For current recipients, my advice is spend wisely. I doubt it will be around in it's current form by the time I'm eligible. No time like the present I say to act, but in an election year, there are many more issues far too important to the 18-49 year old demographic than Social Security. Politicians don't want to hear your troubles, they just want your vote.

there is no disagreement with anything you said.

i particularly detest the giving of social security payments to immigrants that have never contributed a penny, but get the same benifits i paid for.

right now employees pay 8 1/2 % of a maximum of $87,000, $7,395.00 and the employer pays the rest.

i remember having the % incresed one year and later not the %, but the maximum amount of earnings that would be taxed. it was subterfuge by the congress and the senate so they could say i didn't vote to raise your soc sec tax during the year when only the maximum was changed.

then someone thought of the bright idea of raising the age at which you could get your social security serving two purposes, getting more money squeezed out of older americans and cutting short how long they will get the return on their money, because they will be closer to dying by te time you they get their soc sec.

several other things you didn't mention.

when i reach a certain age i can earn money that i will not be used as income to cut my social security benifits. i don't feel like doing a google on the age, because it is probably in the high 70's or low 80's now and by the time i do a google it will be approaching 90 years.

another thing you did not mention is that money i gt paid from my insurance agency is considered earned income. if i were to incorporate, i could receive the same money in the form of a stock dividend, passive money and it wouldn't be taxed. why i don't i keep close to my chest, like a poker hand.

social security is a ponzi scheme that is illegal when done by pyramid clubs, and it will fail eventually, if it hasen't already. i always check my bank on the second of the month to see if the house of cards has fallen.

now that i have added to your information without pointing a finger as you did, remember republicans have to vote for these also, in order for them to become law, what do you suggest we do about what exists now and
what do you propose we do in the future.

the congress and the senate have this as an option, but i doubt that any of them chose this option. a person could simply deposit his and his employers money in a bank, draw minimum interest and in 30 years have a a nest egg of over 1/2 million dollars.

of course my soc sec check is really reduced by the percent i pay in taxes so it's not the 100% it appears on the surface.

When the Social Security Administration first began assigning social security numbers in 1935, SSN cards included the statement "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION" printed upon their face. SSNs are now widely and routinely demanded by businesses and agencies FOR IDENTIFICATION purposes. As a consequence, the Social Security Number has become a de facto National Identification Number.
