Curt Schilling told the nation to "Vote Bush" and has now appologized.
He still supports the president, but realized that he should not make unsolicited endorsements for or against a candidate.

I doubt we'll see the same class exhibited by the Hollywood Left.

I think you have it wrong. We shouldn’t have to worry about whom a celebrity tells us to vote for; we have to worry about the people who pay attention to them.

Are you serious? They will not even apoligize for the names they call GWB, why do you expect anything from the left??????

If only Schilling had been on NBC with Katie Couric and that liberal loving group, they would have passed out!

AVB, you have it right.
But I don't think anybody who is smart enough to actually go out and vote has ever said to themselves: "Well, if Kerry is good enough for Babs, then he's good enough for me".

The problem is more of a long term, constant barrage of negativity towards one candidate versus the other. When a bevy of uninformed schmucks call President Bush "dumb" or call the Iraq war an "Oil war", they usually don't know WHY they accept these to be true. But Ben Affleck said it, and it was confirmed by Michael Moore. They're both successful, so they must know something.

True it goes both ways. But if I want opinions on a candidate, I'll read it or watch television shows with hosts who state their position firmly.
It should never come from non-political, unsolicited sources who have gained the public adoration through their highly visible occupations.

Truth be told, I was happy when Schilling made his statement. But I'm even more happy that he appologized.

Michael Moore is dangerous because people associate the word "documentary" with "factual" ...

I can't count the number of letters to the editor I've seen in several different newspapers that read something to the effect of "well, it's a DOCUMENTARY, after all, so it MUST be true" ...

Beyond that, I think you're spot-on with your assessment that the stream of negativity from these people with visibility gets parroted by those who have no idea what the facts are, but simply regurgitate all the bilge they've heard repeated so many times ...

Yo Tailgator:

Your statement:

"Curt Schilling told the nation to "Vote Bush" and has now appologized.
He still supports the president, but realized that he should not make unsolicited endorsements for or against a candidate.

I doubt we'll see the same class exhibited by the Hollywood Left."

My reply:

First schilling said he couldn't campaign with GW because of his ankle, then because of the above statement. The truth of the matter is schilling found out after a talk with the owners of the Boston Red Soxs that they support kerry, and that is why he backed off.

schilling is a great pitcher, however from the time he spent here in Philadelphia he proved over and over again that he has no class what so ever.

No class?
When? When he was a 20 something multi millionaire star athlete?

He's a much more mature celebrity now, and appreciates his public life and takes it very seriously.

His "sore ankle" excuse was just that. An excuse.
To avoid a clash with the big guy who signs his check. To avoid a team turmoil.
The Sox Brass were extremely hypocritcal in their denial of Schillings statement and simultaneous support for Kerry in his New Hampshire trip.

Reason? It's two fold:
1. Liberals ALWAYS behave in inconsistent ways, and can't recognize their hypocracy.
2. The Sox owners, collectively, are posturing in Massachusetts to get a new ballpark. Do you think they's stand a chance if they didn't support our own junior senator?

Schilling displayed immense class by putting his team before himself.
To think otherwise is not seeing the whole picture.
