Illegal Immigrants Poem
I cross ocean, poor and broke,
Take bus, see employment folk.
Nice man treat me good in there,
Say I need to see welfare.

Welfare say, "You come no more,
We send cash right to your door."
Welfare checks, they make you wealthy,
Medicaid it keep you healthy!
By and by, I got plenty money,
Thanks to you, American dummy.
Write to friends in motherland,
Tell them 'come fast as you can.'
They come in turbans and Ford trucks,
I buy big house with welfare bucks
They come here, we live together,
More welfare checks, it gets better!
Fourteen families, they moving in,
But neighbor's patience wearing thin.
Finally, white guy moves away,
Now I buy his house, and then I say,
"Find more aliens for house to rent."
And in the yard I put a tent.
Send for family they just trash,
But they, too, draw the welfare cash!
Everything is very good,
And soon we own the neighborhood.
We have hobby it's called breeding,
Welfare pay for baby feeding.
Kids need dentist? Wife need pills?
We get free!
We got no bills!
American crazy! He pay all year,
To keep welfare running here.
We think America darn good place!
Too darn good for the white man race.
If they no like us, they can scram,
Got lots of room in Pakistan.

do you know the illegal immigrants that reach here from cuba ae granted asylum and given a monthly stipend and free medical care. it's not just those from mexico.

i agree with you that illegal immigration should be stopped and illegal immigrants should be returned to their own country.

i believe it is a business decision made by the government to supply cheap labor. sort of like insourcing.

I didn't see Mexico or Mexican mentioned in the poem?

why is it the first thoughts about Ill. Immingrants... mexico comes to mind??

across the street from me I have 9 family's from China living in one house... they do not have curtians up.. they have cloths hanging from what used to be the curtian rods in their big bay window... these people are not poor.. they own almost every one of the chinese food resturaunts in town... they get one hell of a tax break from the government... my wife gets her nails done.. the folks that do these are Tiwanees (sp) they talk about how good their life is while in America and how they've grown their business and the breaks they get... when it comes to Mexicans as Illegals I think they are on the bottom of the food chain as far as pay and treatment from the government...

why is it America has turned into the above rather then how it was when my grandparents were little and their parents came to America??

usa, I'm not sure if this is bashing aliens or welfare. Welfare is there for a reason. If, god forbid, I ever loose my job and still support my family, welfare will be there to help me. I've paid taxes into welfare since I was 15 and working. I see no problems with taking some of it back if I ever need it.

I really fail to see anything racist about the post. If illegal immigrants were knowledgable, intelligent(sp?), and possessed a skill/trade, then they would not be illegal and would go through proper channels. I fail to see how this is racist in the least. You must be one of those people who scream racism whenever something doesn't go a minorities way. Please enlighten us on how this was a derogatory post against any races.

This suggests Legitimate Americans are white, whereas aliens, not to mention welfare recipients are non-whites, i.e., have dark skin. Therefore the poem is racist, because it draws both class and nationalistic conclusions based on mere skin color.

CP, I think the poem refers to Americans as "White Man" due to the traditional use that is often portrayed with stereotypical Native Americans. The "white man" stole the land, although I'm many non-whites were among the colonists. Kind of like vietnamese referring to our soldiers as "Joe". Although I'm sure there were many Tyrons in the service.

Well then strike "white" and replace it with "American" and the poem ceases to be racist and is then a nationalistic one. The 'Americans are white' debate was settled back in 1864 or there abouts.

A story I heard years ago comes to mind. I do not know who to credit but only pass it on for your analysis...


Years ago, in a great horseshoe bend in the Mississippi river, there lived a drove of wild hogs. Where they came from, no one knew. But they survived the floods, fires, freezes, droughts and hunters. They greatest compliment a man could pay to a dog was to say that he had fought the hogs in Horseshoe Bend and
returned alive.
Finally, a one-gallused man came by the country store on the river road and asked the whereabouts of these wild hogs. He drove a one-horse wagon, had an axe, some quilts, a lantern, several sacks of corn, and a single barrel shotgun. He was a slender,
slow-moving patient man, who chewed his tobacco deliberately and spat very seldom.
Several months later he came back to the same store and asked for help to bring out the wild hogs. He stated that he had them all in a pen over in the swamp. Bewildered farmers, dubious hunters and storekeepers all gathered in the heart of Horseshoe
Bend to view the captive hogs.
"It was all very simple," said the one-gallus man. "First I put out some corn. For three weeks they would not eat it. Then some of the young ones grabbed an ear and ran off in the thicket. Soon they were all eating it. Then I commenced building a pen around the corn, a little higher each day. when I noticed they
were all waiting for me to bring the corn and had stopped grubbing for nuts and acorns and roots, I built a trap door."
"Naturally they raised a ruckus when they seen they was trapped, but I can pen any animal on the face of the earth if I can just get him to depend on me for a free hand-out."
Should this be entitled "Hogs of Horseshoe Bend or "Men of America" ?? When the average American wakes up and finds himself enclosed with a fence of Federal Aid for this, a Subsidy for that, he will howl to the High Heavens "They can't do this to me....This is a free country!!!" But, he will be just like the
Hogs of Horseshoe Bend, who quit 'grubbing' for his living and freely accepted the hand-outs.

Great hog allegory, but how are you applying it to illegal immigrants, welfare, or racism? Illegal immigrants cannot collect welfare because you have to fill out forms to receive it, which involves establishing one's citizenship, as does collecting social security, medicare, or enrolling in a public schools. On the other hand, anyone can be a racist, all it requires is a low level of intelligence and lack of education, both for citizens and non-citizens alike.

Illegal immigrants are eligible for all social services in Texas that I am aware of. Especially if they have children. AFDC aka Food Stamps (now known as the Loan Star Card) TANF, Medicare, WIC, Long Term Care Services, MHMR services, and yes SSI. Once they are in the country unless they are turned in to INS they are just as eligible as a naturalized citizen. Also the only checks that get done on anyone is to see if they are a felon wanted for anything. If not and they qualify based on income then they get the services no other questions asked. There is no inter agency reporting of anyone less than a felon.

BTW I see it everyday in my job.. I'm the "Regional Network Analyst" for the Health and Human Services Commission for the State of Texas" Region 5.

cbid does not censor anything but filthy language. the poem is not really racist that i can see.

i assumed the author was refering to mexican illegals, because i live near mexico. if i lived in florida i might assume he was talking about cubans,

if i saw the situation through usahog's eyes i might thik it was about chinese.

originally i thought the poem was about the "greys".
the tall thin big eyed no nose small chinned little buggers that came in space ships and like to stick all sorts of things in humans.

it follows that most tyrons are black but not all blacks are tyrons. i have never met a jewish tyron, descended from any one of the tribes of colors ranging from off white to dark brown.

I also have done policy studies regarding titles 18 & 19 of the federal SSA. States have the freedom to grant benefits to rabid beavers if they like, that's Texas's problem. Here in California, for example, some benefits are made available for migrant farm workers because the state's agricultural industry depends on them; the state wants them here and makes laws to encourage their presence: these folks aren't slackers, they work, and receive benefits legally. But federal guidelines are clear on eligibility criteria. There are exceptions, such as foreign lawful permanent residents (LPRs), refugees, especially Cubans and Haitians, the Hmong & Highland Lao tribes from the Vietnam war, Filipinos who served with the U.S. armed forces, American Indians from Mexico & Canada; but these groups are allowed by federal law and and other treaties. Their receipt of benefits is not illegal, and moreover they represent an egregious minorities of total recipients. Illegal (as opposed to legal) immigrants come to America mostly to try and find work, the last thing they want to do is alert the authorities that they're here and risk deportation. Statistically, the vast majority of aid recipients are either born or naturalized citizens, not illegals.

I have been on county health welfare twice...about 6-10mo each time...when I was in school and when I lost my job. I may have to go on it again after this job. I don't like it, but I believe the way I used it is the way it is supposed to be used....I pay taxes and I needed temporary help. I don't milk it.

As far as illegals getting welfare benefits...I have gone round and round with my significant other who used to do social work in an elementary school (TX). The kids got a lot of benefits through welfare, native or alien. Of course, much of those benefits had to be filtered through the parents...native or alien.

My problem with welfare...since I have been old enough to quasi-understand it....is that to help people who really need it long-term (kids, elderly, mentally retarded, etc.) you have to go through someone else who might milk the system. To feed a kid, you usually have to go through a parent who may or may not be a piece of work. That's what I hate about welfare...I think we need something in place to help people, but sweet Christ...there has to be a better way of distribution!!!!

cexshun, it seems to me that you are definitely showing your lack of knowledge and intelligence by grouping all illigal immigrants together(stereotyping) and stating that they lack knowledge and intelligence. You obviously have an axe to grind agianst minorities.Can you also explain what you meant by intelligence(sp?). That is , should you see fit to respond to someone not within your preferred racial preference.

I'm sure USAhog would agree that ours is the greatest country on earth. Yet we still have children without a roof over their head and people who go hungry. So without our welfare system, how many more would go hungry? Welfare isn't the only government program that gets abused. There will always be people who will try to break the law. I for one am happy to share with those less fortunate.

But thanks for posting a poem that lumps those who really need our help with the law breakers. Compassionate conservatism indeed.

As a Honduran immigrant I take deep deep offense to this poem. USAHOG you lost a lot of my respect, not only is this poem cruel, but it lacks any sense of tact. If you look into your own family history you may find that some where along the line your family was the beneficiary of some government program. This kind of statement just isn't right, it's NOT funny and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Rodnie, my grandparents 3rd generation back also came to America as immagrents... that would make me 4th generation... as far as government program, they didn't have any back in the days they came here....

I learned past down through the generations how to roll up my shirt sleeves and earn what I needed to get by, for myself and for my family.. I never looked to the government for any type of program to get me started nor keep me/family running...

I did not post this poem as any type of race card or for any other reason then a laugh... if you got offended by this poem, then you have some very thin skin and living here in America is really going to be tough on you!!!!

As I pointed out to Rick above about the Mexican... every one of these people I knew and know, work hard for a living coming into America, I worked with allot of Cubans in Orlando Florida in the building trades... they were all good workers, So don't play no race card crap with this posting and jump on my A$$ for posting it... get your A$$ off the government programs and get a life...

My family also never benefited from 'government handouts' and we know the meaning of hard work. This poem is low and it reflect your character. If you want to disparage people you will get it too. Don't expect us to read it and not reply or be passive.
