OK you guys, being a greenhorn at trading, how do I determine what is a fair and equitable trade of gars with someone? How do you determine what is a 1-4-1 or a 2-4-1, etc.

Ultimately, it is up to the whim of the trader. Some guys on here can afford to just send you free ISOMs or other good smokes. Others have much more limited a selection (myself) and carefully determine what they are willing to put up based on value and preferred tastes.

I'll break you in on a trade if I can. What do you want to put up? Depending on what you like, we may have a deal.

Ditto.....
It's not necessarily how much the cigar may be worth retail, but primarily what it is worth to the individual you are trading with... everyone's tastes are different. I just tell the brothers which cigars I have to trade and what type of cigar I would like in return. We work out the amounts, 1 for 1, 2 for 1 etc. and come to an agreement that both parties feel is fair.
