C'mon Tony.... that's not the reply I was looking for...

Umm... you may want to first read the rules of this forum and then do a search for such words as "cubans", "for sale", "selling", "illegal", "against the law", "scam", etc. These will show you the previous conversations that have been conducted here and will provide examples of why tonester said what he did:

1. Most of us live in the U.S. where it's illegal
2. Most cubans are counterfeit
3. Especially when sold in such a manner
4. And even a trade for a whole box would be done with much suspicion with someone we don't know

But welcome, and I hope with a little more info we can alleviate some concern and continue towards an amicable friendship!

I figured Slim needed this one after his vacation. I was just being helpful since he did not leave a way to contact him.

Ethan, ever think about changing your name to SSIT(Slim Slapper in Training)? I think he needs a backup. He seems to be a little slow at times.

Macro - Ethan is right on the money.

I say you send a few to me and I'll tell you if they are Cubans or not. And if I can't tell, then send some to Al'thor, he'll be able to tell. And if not, send some to......

If they have white dots, they are fake. They should have white squares.

Don't go by JUST the bands, Anyone can take legit bands and put them on crap cigars in a legit box. Look at the construction and compare sizes.

very strange...

I also have a co-worker who married his wife in Miami. She came over from Cuba. Still has family there. They visit a couple times a year in either direction and there are always items... I've had some amazing smokes that I've gotten from him, but I've had some that were clearly counterfeit as well. Many people will tell you that the vast number of cigars you could buy in Cuba are FAKE! and almost certainly under these circumstances, they would not be genuine. That's not to say they don't have Cuban tobacco in them. But it could have been grown and rolled in someone’s backyard… Or could be factory rejects, or could be bundles from Nic, Hon, or Dom…

It’s a crapshoot. Like I said, I have had good and bad from him. He swears that they’re all legit and straight from you know where. I don’t doubt that they’re all from you know where, but the majority are not “real”.

I do not profess to be an expert by any means but from what I do know these look legit. The band matches up to CA and my Siglos. The construction looks very good.

Go to www.cigaraficionado.com and look on the navigation bar on the left side for the Counterfeit Gallery (look for a little picture of a Cohiba band under a magnifying glass).

Compare the legitimate bands to the ones on your smokes and also check some of the known fakes for any matches. Also, was the Republica de Cuba tax stamp on the box, unbroken, before you bought it? If not, then it was most likely a counterfeit. Also, did your Cuban friend buy them from an actual shop, or just some guy on the street.

Use a search engine and check for some other sights that could help you see if the box is legit, and also some places to help you figure out if the tax stamp is real or not.

One more thing: If what you bought are Cohiba Esplendidos in a box with a clear glass top, they're fake. That's one of the biggest counterfeit tricks going on in the US and abroad with Cuban cigars right now.

In my experiences with "legit Havanas," I've found that anyone seriously into marketing fakes can get real bands, real seals and real boxes and put pieces of $hit tobacco around it all.

The only way to tell is to smoke it. Period. They can also be rolled with enough detail to look legit. Those guidelines you see on the other sites are just for appearance clarifications only, again, only your palate can tell.

I should clarify that there are legit sources out there, as many people on these boards well know.
