It really did work out the way we "HOPED" it would. The BOTL who became Brethren of the PASS made it a success beyond what I had dared anticipate.
The Award for "The PLAY of the PASS" went to Big Jeff - as much for his really imaginative and generous TAKES and PUTS - but also for his contribution of 100 cigars destined for Iraq and Afghanistan !!! Jeff's award was an assortment of 6 Habanas and Padron Anniversario.
Mega-Hooah Big Jeff !!!!

The Deck Herf last evening was the perfect conclusion to The PASS - we had 10 people(and one 90 lb. German Shepherd - Shadow) in attendance, Brothers of the PASS, plus Harley Dave and his lady Tracy, TMAC 7 and Mike Hoats - who nobly and honorably represented C-Bid and also brought massive quantities of new product release samples for all to enjoy.) - if only there was a magic potion that could have transported all of the PASS participants to our Dual Deck Herf - then it would have been a legendary night !!!

Ropeman received the award for Biggest Contribution to the PASS - and his efforts were applauded and enjoyed by all ----he was solely responsible for contacting CAO (thanks Jon) who supplied 3 boxes of CAO Extreme Belicoso , L'Anniversaire Maduro and the newer style CAO Maduro. Also - there are now several Brothers of the PASS who will be sporting some very cool CAO baseball caps (with NEW Logo !!)
But Ropeman did not stop at only 1 top cigar maker - he personally received a donation to the Deck Herf from Robert of Bucanero - who was very generous in his donation of a box of FULL SAILS !! (Are you hearing me - Dr. Mad Vibe ???!!!)

The Deck Herf started with a reading and salute to all Brethren of the PASS and a ceremonial Cigar was lit to blow the special Salute to all our Brethren of the PASS to the 4 corners of the world (Romeo y Julieta Edicion Limitada 2001 Robusto) - distributed to all in attendance by my daughter Ashley and a gift from my family to all who came to the Deck Herf.)
After taking care of some business issues for the next PASS - Spring Fling '04 - and continuing the consumption of massive amounts of munchies and adult beverage - the Deck Herf moved to our Country Club - Great Bear - where Deck Herf 2 commenced and more of the same transpired - but kicked up a notch - we took many pictures and then all gathered facing East and a SPECIAL TRIBUTE to our Brother BILLY SMITH was offered by all --- just like you asked, Billy --- a smoke salute First Class was blown Eastward just for you !!!
You get well and strong and come back to us soon -- you know you are missed and thought of by all of us whom you've touched on these Boards - HOOAH !!!!!

We then returned to Deck 1(our house) and a final cigar of the night was lit accompanied by some very fine Port !!!! Then the assemblage moved indoors for coffee and special HOOAH CAKE - American Flag Cake and a special greeting for the BOTL !!! - (I hope the picture of the cake turns out - our bakery did a nice job.)
A few minutes after midnight (00:05 Dark - I know that's a new Mil Time term for Low) - the group started to disperse -- but Ropeman had one more BIG SURPRISE for us -- he donated the remainder of the 3 CAO Boxes and the Caps and the FULL Sails to be sent to the TROOPS overseas and some of our Cadets at West Point !!!! Bro. DJ -- that was ANOTHER super Class move !!!!

So now it ends --- The PASS is officially over....
The DocRKS Spring Fling '04 PREMIUM Box PASS has been committed to and will happen and a few more HERFs have been set ---one for the Celtic Festival around Bethlehem PA and very near C-Bid and C-I (set for last weekend in Sept) and another "Golfers and Cigar Smokers" Herf at our Club in the Fall, with 19 very important stops included during our outing)

Thanks again to All Involved in this magical adventure --- "Talk" to you soon......
God Bless All Our Troops - Bring Them Home Safely and Soon !! ------- HOOAH !!!

Sounds terrific!

Way to go, DJ! He's definately one of the hardest working men on the forum. Class act all the way.

Congratulations to Big Jeff, too. Outstanding play and contribution. Many, many troops will be happy and comforted with the smokes.

Glad so many bretheren could make it. Doc! You have done an outstanding service to all. Not only with YOUR pass, but you inspired a host of passes on the forum. Hopefully this trend will continue. Nothing can beat the "original Doc Pass" as it smokes down in history.

BTW: I celebrated the night with..er.. entertaining the in-laws and their friend. At least the wife and I smoked cigars and played pool till 2am after they left.

Doc ,

I have to correct one thing you said. Jon from CAO sent us 2 boxes of CAO cigars. The 3rd box was from Keith at CB/CI. Just wanted to make sure they got the proper Thank You.

This all happened because of you, Doc. You, your wife and daughter are very gracious hosts. Not many people would open their houses up to people the way you did. I personally thank you for everything you did last night. I had a wonderful time. Thank you!

Special Thanks to Keith of C-Bid for his very generous support of the Dual Deck herf with the donation of the CAO Box for the Brethren of the PASS which will now also go out to our Warriors overseas and "Firstie" Cadets at West Point.

You run a CLASS Operation and we're all glad to be associated with it !!!!
(By the way - Mike represented all of you very well -- the cop who stopped him said he got most of the letters of the alphabet right !!! ....JK It was a real pleasure having him there)

Doc, thank you again... I wrote a long post on the thread: "The Pass-Deck Herf"... I'm gonna be lazy and cut and paste it... Thanks for the great time !!

Original post by Lowman:

" Just wanted to thank Doc, Mrs. Doc and "little" Docette for showing such hospitality and opening their home for us for a GREAT Herf!! They went above and beyond to make sure a good time was had by all. (If you thought the pass was organized... the herf was the same way...)

We met at Doc's house at 5:00 (17:00), well most of us... I was early and not to mention who was late...
We started by eating and drinking the great spread that was laid out for us... yum... then, out to the deck. Cigars were lit in honor of the Brothers of the Pass and the Pass was discussed in great detail...
After about 2 hours, we were off to a golf and country club in Pa. There, we sat overlooking the beautiful 18th hole, while we smoked, drank and ate some more. Conversations were great ! At 9:25 (21:25), we got together and blew some somke to the East, as promised, in honor of Billy, who is recovering from surgery.
At approx 10:00 (22:00), we were back off to Doc's deck. We all toasted with a glass of Port wine and smoked some more. Coffee was served alond with a huge sheet cake with an American Flag with the inscription: "MEGA HOOAH BOTL !" This was known as the Hooah cake...
After cake and coffee, the Herf broke up around 12:00 (00:00).

Thank you, again for the hospitality... A Great time was had by all!! This herf will be hard to top !!

Low

MEGA HOOAH !! "

Doc, email me and let me know this week if you still haven't received incoming. If not, I'll put another in the breach. I don't know what it is about us sending things to each other!! I remember when you sent me a pkg and, then resent after a week or two, and both arived within a day or on the same day as I recall. Weird... Anyway, let me know via email next week.

What can I say that hasn’t already been covered? Thanks to Doc and his family for facilitating the box pass and an extraordinary Herf. The food, drinks, conversation and people were all fantastic, and in two incredible locations. And thanks again for the “Play of the Pass” award, it was very generous of you.

Digital Camera not responding well - so will have to rely on snail development of photographic images -- knew I shouldn't have started a 36 count roll ----
Harley Dave -- Glad you and Tracy were there to share this with us --- see you in the next Spring '04 PASS..
Bro. Lowman --- Alas, The HOOAH Cake is no more --- the remains were taken up to West Point and heartily enjoyed by some of the Firstie Cadets along with some great smokes... Now hurry up and take some Golf Lessons so you will be able to join us for the Golf & Smokes Fall Herf at Great Bear. Or you can just come out for the Dinner and Smokes part.....

The rumor was that it was the Dept. of Corrections as part of a work release program --- but that has since been discredited.

It was great to have Mike there as it was all the guys and guyettes....

Everything I would have hoped for a deck herf ending one of the best box passes I know of. All of you are class acts as is C-Bid for the donations, Big Jeff, and Ropeman. I was there in spirit sitting on the deck of our beach rental at Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Mexico. I lit the ISOM I brought with me and blew it all to the east toward the deck herf and continued on to my friend Billy. The slight breeze was perfect as I pictured the smiles and comraderie of all in attendance at your place. Cheers to you all and I eagerly await the Spring Fling '04 Pass!
