All,

I just wanted to let my "brothers and sisters of the leaf" know that I go in for surgery this Thursday morning. I will be in the hospital for 4-6 days and then recouping for another 2+ weeks or so. I will be away from the computer for around 3-4 weeks.

I will be unable to get the August Birthday Club cigars shipped before I go in Thursday. I just want to apologize for my tardiness and promise to get them out as soon as I am capable. Also, I will be unable to make any updates or send out any updates concerning the club. If you have an update, please hold off until you see me back on the board if possible. If not, send it out to all club members and I'll send out the updated sheet as soon as possible.

I am having bilio pancreatic diversion with a duo denal switch which is a form of bariatic surgery where they sew off a portion of my stomach to where it will only hold (4) ounces, and reroute my large intestines to where I only have 7 feet of large intestines from my stomach to the small intestines.

What this means is that I will only be able to absorb 30% of all food that I eat, 30-40% of all carbohydrates, and 100% of all sugars. I expect to loose approximately 200 pounds in a little over a year or so.

Please say a prayer for me that my surgery goes well and that I recover in good time and say a prayer for my wife as she has to take care of me while recovering.

Hey Matt,
Good Luck, and may everything work out as planned. I have a friend, who had the same surgery. He has had nothing but good things to say about it.

I know I'm not a B-Day Club member, but I have traded with Matt and I think he's a very good man.
