Danny -

Thanks for the kind words ---as someone who has already been successful in running a box PASS - I KNOW you are fully aware of how much effort this is --- I hope this adventure comes close to the tremendous success you had on your PASS (for all our sakes !!!)

Docrks,

Take your time setting this up. I know how tough it is, I have done a box pass before. It is no fun getting everything together and double, triple checking the box to make sure everything is in there. It is much easier being on this side of a box pass.
So , take your time....

Tarheel -

Announcements re this PASS have been on this forum for over 3 weeks -- no one was "invited" specifically - they all contacted me after seeing the MANY notices (check recent archives) --- out of the 28 who responded to me - you see the list of 16 who are participating in this PASS.

JD1 --- You are 4th on the Receive list and the timing should fall after your 1st time away and well before your longer vacation.

Cooksta 2 - your vacation break should not be an issue for the PASS - however - as you are the "junior" in our group - remember the rules - if the PASS is held up for more then 2 days at YOUR address - you owe all 16 players each of the cigars that make up the Habana complement of the PASS --- that comes out to 160 excellent Habana cigars...... I would cancel my vacation and wait for the mailman !!!!! (LOL)

DocRKS - Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Mailed your box Monday. Should be getting it in about 2 years. Don't know what is up with the PO in NJ but It took Lowmans package three weeks to get here...

Looking forward to selecting from the box and I picked up a few "Awesome Gars" to add into the box.

Regards,

B

Lowman on vacation Aug 9 - Aug 15. Don't know how that falls with pass, just an FYI. But ending up in Jersey, could be worked out.

Lowman, Big Jeff, PT -- when the PASS returns to Jersey - my thought was having my Jersey Brothers of the Leaf up to our place and have a "mini-Herf" and Box PASS gathering...

Ropeman - I'm not sure how far from Stroudsburg, PA and the Delaware Water Gap you are - but if the drive is do-able, you're welcome as well....

Sounds good to me doc... Of course, I won't be getting the "full effect" of the "Box Pass"... But I'll get over it, I think... How would posting what we took and put in be effected??

The PASS will be handed off to 1 person at the get together and he will post all the puts and takes as per normal procedure ---we will all just be there to see its arrival back in New Jersey and have a cigar or two on the deck and try some very fine adult beverages.....

Hey guys,
Sounds great. I got an idea, I know it's in an unfamiliar place, so I'll be gentle with it. What ya say a continuous box pass, call it the box that never stops. Not this one, but the next one, or this one whatever. I know doc has alot invested, with the initial offering and all, but it would be cool if we kept it going. Maybe everyone involved, bomb the good doctor with premium sticks to make up for his investment????
Just a rambling thought that got lost in my head, and can't find it's way out.

P.S. Maybe the idea is better suited for a different pass. Just thinking outside the box, pun intended.

Homebrew - We call that "Fire One for Effect !!!!"

The wait is almost over --- the PASS is almost complete - a new Habana has entered our midst...the 4th of July holiday is messing with sending the PASS out -- if I Priority it tomorrow (Wednesday) to California - there is a very good chance that it will be sitting in a Post Office a for about 4 or 5 days before being delivered to Chris W at his office next Monday....

I think I'll wait till Saturday to mail it with delivery set for Monday or Tuesday......

Final Contenets of the PASS as it leaves NJ will be published tomorrow !!!! (Anyone ever tried a "ONEOFF" Perfecto - retail $13 - with the PEACE Sign label).... It's now in the PASS ..........

Hi,

I have never participated in a trade (still have my cherry) and as such did not qualify for the premium box pass. I would like to make an offer if acceptable to place w/o a take 2 premium sticks to the pass. I live in Az and could meet with either deadeyedick or jsd1 to give them the cigars.

Please email me at

JimGBigJ
at AOL

thanks,

Jim

Big Jim -

Class move ---- if you make the arrangements and it's ok with deadeyedick or JSD1 - it's a GO from my end. You'll list the 2 sticks you are PUTTING IN under the appropriate category (Habana, Ultra Premium, Super Premium or Premium) and then your name.

In return - I will put a special Habana stick in the PASS marked only for you......That will be your TAKE

Pls send your snailer and info to:

Hey doc,

Can you give examples of each catagory (Ultra Premi, Super Premi and Premi), so we are all on the same page.

I'm shocked that you would think this info would not be in your PASS package !!!!! Every question you have ever had is answered in the materials that accompany the PASS However - the quick synopsis is:

H = Habana
UL = Ultra Premium $16 to $25+Range per cigar
SP = Super Premium $13 to $15 Range per cigar
PR = Premium $8 to $12 Range per cigar

Check the archives over the last 3 weeks or so and you'll easily find a lot of details about the Box PASS as well as some great web sites you can call up and get a lot of data.

Good Luck -

Never doubted you doc...

Didn't know if cigar OR money classified it.

More $$$ doesn't always mean better cigar and vise versa..

Totally agree with you !!!! I will match some of my Regular Padron 4000 and 5000 against cigars costing twice as much -- and the Padron will win out almost all the time !! However - there needed to be a way in the box PASS to take the subjectivity out of the equation - we had to eliminate the TAKE of a $15 stick and the PUT of a $8 stick in its place because the Player honestly believes the lower priced cigar to be a better smoke. He may be right and the higher priced smoke may be grossly over priced (Domestic Upmann Chairman's Reserve comes to mind) - but the only "FAIR" way to have this PASS play out on a level surface is to match the $$ as closely as possible.

However - I agree with your point 100% .... YDM !!

Docrks,

I have had a One Off but not sure what type. I thought it ran mild. I was going to get some for the pass.
