I usually read the review of new purchase I am considering at cigar aficionado. What reviewers do you like to check

cigargeeks...............I like it because there's typically several reviews for the same cigar in one spot, and lots of other good info

This place is a great place too, I look here to see what sux and what is good. Without this place who knows, I might have ended up liking Gurkhas or Rocky Patels.

Ovid........that's a town in central ny nestled between the two largest finger lakes......anyhoo, google reviews of cigars you may be interested in. Puff.com and stogieguys seem to be as objective as any one out there. Actually, the goombas on these boards may be your best resource. Just understand that some of us will give a cigar a nasty review but it may be one that suits your palette, palate, palet???????????????????

Yup...and it's sickening.

I trust my own damned tastebuds. Oh, I'm not above a recommendation from someone I know or taking a chance on a new cigar but I will not purchase on the "review" of some rag.

NEVER.

Man up and buy a few of the smokes and rely on your own tastes to see if it suits you. Herfing

The information available here is a good bet. 'Feedback' is provided by a cross section of enthusiasts and noobs alike, each with their own preferences. If you pay attention, you'll learn which cigars are popular and which are dog rockets from an unbiased source. Members have invested hard earned dollars in their hobby to explore and eventually settle in to a profile that can be narrow or very broad and evolving. You'll quickly learn which members tastes are similar to yours.

Certainly beats a source that relies on advertising $ for their very existence.

Buy a fiver of the cigars in question and send them to me. I promise to review them (professionally) and post results. I promise to include tasting notes such as hints of "my nuts" and "anus" for your consideration. No Gurkha's please as these have already been reviews here numerous times.

Several posters have suggested that because cigar taste is subjective that it's best to try them out. This is of course true, but it begs the question "which blends should I try"?
Hence the op.
I agree that ca is suspect and probably influenced by advertisers. While that may be true I have found that by reading between the lines, so to speak, in the tasting notes section, I can get a pretty good idea as to what the cigar may taste like.
But I was looking for more objective, and reliable reviews, hence (again) the op

By becoming familiar with the reviews of a particular reviewer one can apply his/her suggestions and comments to one's own tastes. It can save time and money when choosing a new blend to try out. At least that's the hope.
I thank all of you for your recommendations and will check each one out.

Are you kidding me?

I'm not smoking that dog $hit. Rocky Patel is synonymous with crap.

Upgrade and expand your own pallette. You won't ever learn anything here. Your post above pretty much sums it up too. This isn't Stickbid.com...n00b

Pretty much my go to advise recently have been cigars that are being asked for in the PIBs or one that someone specifically gets excited about receiving in a trade or bomb....

I only go by Lancaster's reviews.

Paul Stulic makes the best cigars, just ask Tiger.

Well... I haven't experienced any schiza mein fazen yet... Full of crap

It's a better barometer than Joe Blow talking about a hint of carmel notes and a full creamy smoke. If it fits a profile and a few people on here are geeked over them so far has yielded a decent result when I pick a new cigar.

I love to read the Katman.

Kohnhed.com

He's pretty straightforward and his rock star stories can be hilarious.

I find a cigar I like...then I search cigar reviews to see what the pros think. If the first one does not like it, I move to the next review until i find one that agrees with me. Then i like it more. Should I offer this advice in the political section?

I just buy what I want, try it and if i like it i buy more, if not, i move on.... Try to find similar blends, wrappers..fillers..... it's kind of like beer...wine....and such. Some brands you won't buy cause they're ****, no matter what they make. Others make everything well.....

I'm a fan of his as well.

Gotta say though, his palate is, shall we say..............amazing?
Some of the flavors he describes are over the top......as in......bordering on hyperbole.
