It's is ridiculous how they are processing claims.

On 9/2/2016 I handed my flood policy dec page to a FEMA counselor at North Park. That dec page clearly stated that I did not have contents coverage.

As of 9/9/2016 I was still being denied assistance because my flood insurance covered contents.

I'm being told that apparently my dec page still hasn't been scanned into the system.

For the life of me I can't understand why no infrastructure exists so counselors can import that data while they are talking to you. Instead, she told me she would fax it to the data center so they could scan it in.

Giving the councilors the ability to do so would eliminate the possibility that paperwork could be lost and not imported.

In addition, there is a real threat that FEMA is going to require tens of thousands of homes to be raised at a cost of $50-$65 or more per square foot for houses on concrete slabs which account for more than 75% of the homes in our community. Though it sounds good on paper, in reality it will turn this area into a ghost town.

Most homes in this area average about 1800 sq ft. To raise that home it would cost the homeowner between $90,000 and $117,000. My mother's house is 1790 sq ft. She's in her 70's and lives on a fixed income. She doesn't have that kind of money. As it stands right now, she has to submit a written estimate from a licensed contractor as well as an appraisal in order to get a permit to start remodeling her home. If the estimate is above 50% of that value, she will be required to raise her slab before she can get a work permit. If required to do so,
She will have to walk away because she can't afford to do so. I'm not an attorney, but it seems like they S would be considered some sort of seizure. If I'm not mistaken she would have to be compensated by the government at fair market value if the seize her property.

Anthony, the Feds may not give a chit but we do. I lived in Baton Rouge for a year and I have very fond memories of the people and the town. I hope that you and your family get some relief from the Feds. fog

As much as I dislike Obama I don't really think is his fault. It seems a lot has to do with the FEMA law Congress passed.

Thanks Julian

Anthony, it is so unfortunate that our citizens have to deal with our governments incompetence at all levels. I have never dealt with FEMA from your side of events but battled the VA for three plus years and the IRS for close to two before finally winning both. It seems that it comes down to don't confuse us with the facts and we will make you earn every red cent. In my case the VA could not read/ interpret a DD214 and the IRS could not follow their own written guidance which I provided to them more than once during my appeals process. Seems to be a common thread through out the fed in recent years and not all under Barry.

Wishing you, your family and all the flood victims the very best.

That story sounds like typical gov't beurocacy(spl??)
You'd think by now FEMA would have this application
System streamlined...how many years since Katrina?
All these FEMA JOINT MILITARY EXERCISES
( JADE-HELM something?, rebuilt empty PRISONS,
MOVING MILITARY equipment all around the US, martial law EXERCISES / watch YOUTUBE)
Is spending all of FEMA's budget money, it never seems to get to disaster victims???
I don't get the mindset of a disaster bureau getting all involved with the REAL MILITARY...THE NATIONAL GUARD military I could understand
Easier???)

I'll be sending some boxes to you in the next 2-3
Weeks...whatever you can't use or
doesn't fit ? Perhaps you can give to others in need.
Thanks for the PM...

I'm having health problems, sorry for the delay...
I'll send a few cigars (10?)...
They may help.
