Trade etiquette question

Being new to this heavenly section of the internet, I just have a simple question regarding trades, specifically, the receipt of a trade.

I want to ensure that the trades I send out are of quality status, is there an unwritten rule regarding what is sent out?

For example, let's say I am trading with someone for the first time, should I send out cigars that are on the higher end? And what constitutes the higher end?

I suppose I am just overthinking this; however, I don't want to be the guy that is known for sending out **** cigars. Just looking for a direction (I know tastes and likes vary).

And for the vets - do you wait to see what is sent, prior to deciding what you are sending in return? Or is it assumed that a noob may not send the best cigars?

Side note: it goes without saying, at least on my end, that sending machine made cigars would be a sin. I figure.

Don't trade anything that you could buy on this site, would be a pretty good guideline. With few exceptions.

now for a real answer....... if you two agree for a "blind trade" you send what you want, period..... if it's an arraigned trade you send what you agreed to. It's that simple.

That makes sense. I imagine there are horror stories with blind trades.

Have you guys gotten horrible cigars in the past from blind trades?

While it is better to err on the side of caution, there is a bit of overthinking here. Like Mikey said, send what has been agreed upon and, if some "hitchhikers" or "bodyguards" just happen to ride along, hey, nothing wrong with that! ThumpUp Keep it simple, keep it within your budget. On the other hand, if you feel that someone is going out of their way to help you out, well, like at a restaurant with excellent service, tip accordingly.

Eventually you'll come up with your own comfortable levels and laugh when you look back at this post.

I'll tell you what was told to me.

If you think it's crap, other people probably do too.

Don't send crap.

Oh, and bundle smokes... most bundle smokes are crap (with a few exceptions).

We like cigars that are packaged in a fancy box, if it didn't come from a fancy box, it's probably crap.

Did I mention that you should not send crap?

Until just about a year ago, I assumed the quality of the cigar (prior to having experience in smoking it) was determined by the band. I assumed that the better looking the band, the better the cigar. I was thoroughly disappointed with that thought when I bought a box of **** that had a nice band on it.

Trade what was agreed to, add hitchikers if you wish.

If it's blind, don't be "that" guy.

Also, don't feel pressured into going overboard. It honestly feels better when someone sends something you really love, because they know than getting some unicorn.

Unless you're Sdeve72. He only accepts HTF Tatuajes.

Great advice - the bit about sending what I like. It would also help future trades with the same person, as they know what I would enjoy.

You definitely learn as you go along. The best way to really figure things out is to keep trading. Good luck! Let me know if you want to trade sometime!

Two good rules of thumb for trading are;
1) If you think the cigars you are sending won't be acceptable, then you are most likely correct
2) Quantity doesn't make up for quality
3) Always go high on the quality side

Yeah I know... That was three. fog

The best advice I can give is communicate. Agree on what smokes are involved and how many. Send your pkg in a timely manner. If for some reason you will be late in mailing, let your trade partner know. Again, it's all about communication.

Man, an amazing package arrived on my porch! I got beer, a vehicle for consuming a bunch of vodka, hot sauce and a fist full of tasty smokes! Thank you ONG! Trying to post a picture, we'll see how that goes.
