Loving the Party Lusitanias from this last order and I'm grabbing a couple more boxes for myself.

Cohiba Magicos from early "13" are really smoking well.
PSD4's never disappoint me.
HdM Epicure Especiale at 2 years or better are my favorite medium smoke with a hint of sweetness.
HU46. The last few cabs I have gotten have been dark, oily, and delicious.
HUHC's are great when you have a short time.
Boli Royal Coronas-Last few boxes were dark, oily, and delicous.

Latest disappointments:

Cohiba Robustos-Bought a bunch from these last two sales and they were all early "12"'s but they haven't smoked or burned well at all. May just need some time at a low humidity.
Monte #4. Bought another box and the draw is so tight you can't smoke them. Happens to me everytime with this one! Don't know why I buy them.
Bolivar Belicoso Finos. I guess I am just used to the powerhouse that this cigar used to be and it's highly disappointing to smoke any from the past few years now.

Nice of you to start us off Kimmer....long time no see! Same to your fam as well brother. Can't argue with the smoke choices either. RASS & SD4s would be right up there for me as well.

Get out in that cool North Idaho air & light one up tonight!

the thought crossed my mind, but it is cloudy, rainy and on the cool side. Not too bad right now, but temp is starting to drop rather fast. The good news is that most of my ccs are now reaching good buring years. I think the newest cc stick I have is from 12, most are 07 or 08.

Glad life is treating you well.

CoRos need a minimum of 4-5 years IMO to get the quality of smoke you'd expect & deserve for the price.

Magicos probably smoke better young as these aren't in the normal Cohiba profile at all to me. More like an EL or an NC Maduro to me. Personally never cared for em, but glad to hear they're smoking well for you Pro.

Best CC I ever smoked was an '09 H Upmann 2 that you sent me, Kyle. It will have some competition, though -- as soon as I get into the others you sent. I'm being patient.

I've enjoyed RASS, PSD4, Monte 2, Trini Reyes, and JLo2 recently. All were from '13 and could probably have benefited from some age.

I've got a ton of smokes from Pro but I don't know how old they are, so I haven't gotten into them yet.

Has anybody had the Cohiba Lanceros or the Monte Especiales? Got my eye on those as I love that vitola.

That box of 09 Upmann 2s has been one of the best boxes of smokes I've ever purchased. Also at the very top is a box of 08 Monte Petit Edmundos, 09 Monte 2s (best Monte 2s I've ever seen in person), an 08 box of Cohiba Robustos & an 09 box of Siglo IVs. That's just counting the 25 ct. boxes.

Haven't smoked a ton of young stuff (12, 13), but from what I've experienced & also read, Cubans are WAY more approachable young now....more so than they ever have been. Definitely can vouch for that with the Hoyo Epicure 2s. Have a 13' box of punch punch on the way I'm excited about as have heard a lot of positive on that one as well.

Drop me a Pm and let me know what you might want to dump the Montes for. Things are tight but, I might could pull a few rabbits out of the tip jar if I have a few good weekends now that tourist season is upon us. Might be a few at a time till I can clear you out of the disappointing ones.

Hmmm...........

I think a gatta agree with Wheel on the Esplendidos. I keep looking but haven't found anything that quite tops it. And yes, dang expensive.

Tops for me are (not in any certain order):

Bolivar Belicoso Fino
Bolivar Corona Gigante (MACS turned me on to these a number of years ago)
San Cristobal de La Habana La Punta
PSP2
PSD4
RASS
Monte 2
Cohiba Siglo VI (this one is close to the Esplendidos for me) And also friggin expensive. I used to be able to get them for a couple hunnert, then all the sudden the skyrocketed.

You Espy ho's need to find yourself a nice Colorado rosado H Upmann Sir Winston. Pure bliss.

Had an interesting read on the FOH forum about the Espy and Sir Winston lately. Bottom line was that their were implications that they were the exact same cigar. And why Hababos SA doesn't release as many Sir Winston...because they can get far more $$ by putting a Cohiba band on em. No factual proof was ever provided, but certainly an interesting theory.

I don't know where that speculation comes from but other than the size I see no similarity in the two. Sir Winstons have been hit or miss for me for many years now. Nice flavors and very disappointing in the same box from '07.

The Esplendidos from '07 and '09 have both been wonderful and consistent.

Others I have been loving recently:

PLPC from '05
JL#2 from '08
SCDH Officios from '05 (original release)
ERDM Choix Supreme from '09 (these have a great smell of flowers and earth)

Dissapointment: RyJ Wide Churchills from '10

My favorites so far are

H Upmann Mag 46
Juan Lopez #2
HDM Epi 1
H Upmann Half coronas (there are so small but tasty)
Juan Lopez #1
PSD4

The ones that were let downs for me

Monte #2 smoked a few of these from different years and I just don't see the attraction to them. mostly airy draw and inconsistent burn on most I have had.
HDM epi 2 Loved the epi 1 and thought they would be similar but was off on that.
RASS I had a few with some nice age on them and just not enough flavor in it for me. I will keep smoking the ones I have though and try to find some popsitives in them as everyone seems to like them.

Always been a Monte fan, but have been enjoying the following lately:
Monte #2, Petit Edmundo, & Especiales (last 2 boxes of No4's the draw was so tight they where barely smokeable)
SCdlH El Principe & La Punta
Boli PC & Belicoso Fino
Vegas Robaina Unicos
And smoked my first Parti Culebra which I enjoyed more than the PSD4.

I just found this thread.Gonz
Unfortunately my favorite Cuban Cigars, have been canceled.
Punch SS#1 and SS#2, were my favorite sticks from that Marque.
I really miss Partagas coronas, and I loved the Churchill DeLuxe, to me they were better than Lusitania.
And don't get me started on the Bolivar Coronas, and Corona Extra.
And they canceled my two favorite Dip's the #1 and the #4
But back to the original Topic.
Partagas 898 varnished, from 04 are smoking really well. I am down to my last 2 , and they have all been stellar.
I am smoking through a box of 08 SCdH El Principe at an alarming rate. I wish I had bought many more boxes of these. My 08 H.Upmann Mag 46 are also smoking well, but still get a tad rough in the last third, and could use a few more years of age. Good thing i picked up a 50 count cab.
I will continue a little later, as I have to go get my paper work turned in, at work, before 2 p.m., and have run out of time.
Later Dave (A.K.A. Homebrew)Beer
P.S. I agree with DED on the 09 Choix Supreme.

And I whole-heartedly agree with Dave on the Party 898 V. I went through a couple of boxes with about 4 years on them and still wish I had bought more. Guess it's time to get more and put them down in case I live that long.Think

HdM DC '08
Boli CG '11
RG Perla '13
PLPC '10
HU #2 '12
HdM Ep2 '13

Duds:
SLR A '09
SLR Regios '11

The As have all been plugged, the Regios just haven't seemed to have much going for them

What are some of the stronger CCs? I like a good kick in the face sometimes, and most of the ones I've had are mild to medium in this category. Anybody tried the Partagas Serie C 3?

If a punch in the mouth is what you're after Eric....then I'd suggest sticking to your NCs for that. That's what they're good at IMO, at least a lot of the high ligero stuff that's out there. Giving you a good buzz and making you wake up the next morning like you licked an ashtray clean. That's primarily one of the reasons I sought out cubans and have stuck to them almost exclusively. I've never had a cuban that's given me that 'kick in the face' sensation, but i've had plenty that i've felt were full-bodied. But I say that in terms of flavor moreso than the nicotine kick.

The 'strongest' cuban marcas IMO are Bolivar, Partagas, some RA and RyJ. Boliva Beli Fino is historically quite a strong cigar...but as I said earlier, habanos are becoming much more approachable young than they have been - at least since i've been smoking anyways....which I know is not long compared to many here.

A few specific sticks I'd recommend you try if you're after something stronger would be the RyJ Cazadores (probably the most notorious 'strong' cigar in the entire HSA lineup), Partagas 898, RASS (young RASS can often times be quite agressive). Come to think of it, you smoke that 2011 RASS I sent you? Those were very robust when I first got that cabinet...but have tamed a bit since. Give that a shot if you haven't yet and see what you think.

I've never had the Serie C3 by the way. I chased cuban ELs from about 2008-2011, and haven't found a single one that was justified by the price tag. Cuban ELs, to me, and many others as well, are a marca unto themselves. Profiles are very similar year to year...largely due to the same fire-retardant dark wrappers these mostly come with. You want some fuller cc's, these would be good to try as well. For me personally though, I'm out of the EL game permanently. Give em' a try though, these may be what you're after. Each person is different.

I'm sure others might have some insight on the matter as well, but those are my .02 anyways. Beer

I haven't had a single Cuban I would call anything more than medium, including Bolivars and Partigas. I haven't had a RyJ Cazadores so maybe that one has some kick, but I haven't had anything that approaches what a full strength LFD or Tat can do.

I have to agree with the above comments here. Not that I have ashed a bunch of Cubans but the ones I have sought out were usually in the full range and a cc full is way different then a nc full. Just finished a PSD4 and there was a nice pepper to it in the first 3rd. I would say KPP and euodias are dead on with there comments.

What KPP said is my experience as well. There is a BIG difference between in-your-face strong and peppery and rich which is more the profile of most Habanos. Some are sneaky as far as the vitamin N but few are strong like a Nic.

The Boli PC is legendary.IMHO it is the PC all others are judged by.While I like a lot of other cigars in this size range only 2 come close to the Boli.......Party Shorts and HU PC's.RyJ Coronito's En Cedro are excellent as well but are an entirely different genre.Partagas Petite Coronas Especiales are another magnificent PC but they need a looooooong nap in order to really shine.

The Boli Corona Junior is a decent smoke but lacks the complexity and fullness of the PC.
