That was hilarious. Good stuff!
So I started my "research" on the songs suggested. If there are other songs by the thousand artists list them, please post a Youtube link and I will check them out.
As a general though on all these songs, most of them I don't really consider country. More like folk. So most of them I could listen to but I would have to been in a perfect mood...like having a cigar by myself with no distractions. None of them I would just listen to for the heck of it.
Sunday Morning Coming Down - Don't consider this country, not horrid but pretty boring, would def have to be in the right mood to listen to this.
Outlaw 5hit - Same as above
Your Cheating Heart - slightly more country sounding but pretty boring. Again, falls in same category as above.
All you ever do is bring me down - a bit more country sounding, not a fan of the accordion at all, a bit too twangy for me, wouldn't listen to this on my own.
Fast as you - Not horrid, only slightly annoying, wouldn't choose to listen on my own, couldn't take many similar songs in a row.
Cody J - YAWN! A bit too twangy but kind of falls into the same category as the first song. Almost put me to sleep...literally.
The Dead South - Almost turned it off when he started whistling, liked the guy's voice but not so much the background music. It was more folk than country. I could listen to this without stabbing my ears with pencils.
Justin Cross - Not bad but not very country sounding, again more like folk music, a bit boring, add it to the list with the first one.
HandMouth - Eww....dumb lyrics...that was just plain bad.
A little past little rock - voice isn't overly country sounding, music was kind of annoying though. Not horrid but not all that good.
Pancho & Lefty - falls in the same category as the first song, singing was a little too twangy for my taste, but not much.
Jolene - eh, noting special in my mind, add to the same category as the first
Early Morning Breeze - same thoughts as Jolene
My takeaway is this...most older country isn't horrible but it isn't anything like the country music I can't stand. So I think my hatred for country music probably starts in the mid-80's and anything Garth Brooks and moving forward. In general I like folk music as it isn't very twangy. That twangy sound is what kills me.
That was as open minded as I get.
