The chicoms didn't even roll out a red carpet for obama like they did for other world leaders.

Why isn't he respected by other countries?

Okay, I'll bite since I was stationed there for 3+ years. It's either by boat or by aircraft, because you can't drive there (it's a series of islands).

If you are insinuating that the US military brought it in, you'd be horribly, horribly wrong.

Been almost 20 years since my last visit, but they certainly used to....most of them, anyway. Cynics may tell you that they liked us for our money. And, to some extent, that was true; but it was deeper than that. MacArthur was still revered...probably still is.

Funny....Shabu was already 'epidemic' and a 'crisis' in the mid 80's....not sure what's changed except maybe the resolve to beat it...At any rate, while the country is always ripe for populist movements...(I was there for People Power)....this guy might be even more of a nut job than I'd have guessed they could support.

He was mayor of a very tough city in the middle of some constant risk of terror-like violence...so tough talk and extra-judicial tendencies served him well. But as leader of a country that has always wanted more respect from other nations, he is out of his league.

Pretty dumb move by their leader though. Cost him more than it got hip and then he apologized anyway.

In this case I believe the new president of the Philippines is just an old, arrogant ass.

He obviously don't want to be lead from behind, or lectured, especially not lectured.

It is disrespectful, but I don't think it is a problem between the two countries, it's more about the differences between two men.

I intend to live awhile and will see some Presidents I like and voted for, some I don't and didn't, and unfortunately an occasional one I completely have disgust for. They will still be my President though and while I can bitch and moan about them I will always side with them over other world leaders. My view up until fairly recently was pretty cast in stone with most Americans. It saddens me to see that erode and have people blame the President rather than themselves.

As for this case, the phil leader says it was not personal, but a reaction to the administrations insistence that the government should not kill people without due process. Those that may be cheering him on based on him tweaking the big O are supporting the opposite view knowingly or not.

Talk amongst yourselves lol.

You don't see him saying that to Saudi, or Iran.......

Maybe he hates Asians, even though he ate dog and his mom was a whore. I saw the pics.

And saying something against an ALLY is different than chiding a regime with a history of human rights violations. But that's just my opinion man.

Also, people started this when the government became more disconnected which I think is a predictable outcome. It hit a high water mark with 43 and has carried over to Soetorro. People can say what they want about our president, it's patriotic just like burning a flag, wearing pig cop socks or protesting the national anthem. Right?

I've got no issue with baggin on the Pres. I have and do do it too. I've just never lined up squarely behind another County's leader with glee when they bag on our Pres.

I agree with you on the house of Saud thing. They have had out leaders nads for a long time. I disagree on Iran, we've been bagging on them for their abuses forever and continue to do so. China too. Folks act as if this Iran deal is a marrage. It's not. It's pragmatic. That's why it cracks me up to hear Mr. Art of the Con talk about it.

If we choose a country to be our ally then even more I want to pressure them on such things. I am harder on and expect more from those I associate with in terms of ethics than those I don't. That's just me.

All those things are arguable and I respect your opinion. I just don't respect anyone cheering another leader bagging on ours just because the current Prez isn't their guy. I find it short sighted and it will breed the tit for tat garbage we are surely to see if the other party gets in. It's a slippery slope and short sighted in my mind. But likely that critter has already escaped drafters bung.

the president has every right to do whatever he wants in this situation but i thought he would take the high road.

i mean all iran said is that their purpose is to annihilate Israel and we gave them billions of dollars.

The Phillipines received 189 million in foreign aid from us in 2014, I cannot find the 2015 figure but assume it was similar. I find their acceptance of that aid and their president's criticism of ours to be an unacceptable combination. If you like or dislike our president does not matter in this to me. That criticism is directed at the office of the president indirectly, which is the part that is unacceptable to me.

Now Putin is flying fighter jets within ten ft of our RC-135s... this is getting out of hand... what's even scarier is how do you think Hillary will be treated (if elected of course) by these other leaders.. especially the Middle-Eastern ones... Think
