This is the n00b league. We've done it the last couple of years. I think Let's rock was the comish last year. Since he has yet to post up anything, I thought I would.

I am volunteering to comish the league again this year. I did it last year, and Ron before me so it can't be that hard. . .


I am thinking a 10 cigar buy in, for a 12 team standard league. But, I am open to suggestions. No dog rockets, but elitist cigars are not required. The idea is to have some fun, talk some trash and send out a bunch of cigars in the end.

Let me know if you are interested and we will start working out the details.

Yeah, we'll send at the end if you are a vet or have someone vouching or you. For new guys(getnon for example) I'll collect up front.

8/31 or 9/7, but either would need to be later in the evening(like 9 pm EST)

I am open to suggestions, but have been requested to avoid Tuesday nights, Wednesday nights and 9/3.

I am traveling 9/4-9/7, and that's the holiday week end, but if one of those days works for everyone else, I can make it work for me.

Just let me know.

Seriously though, I can do what ever.


I propose 9/7 at 9pm EST. What does everyone else say? (Kind of hoping you all get drunk on the holiday which will only help me in the draft)

sounds fine to me.

it is hard to find a time that is perfect for everyone, especially on such short notice. if people cant make it they may have to autodraft.

so we are in agreement that the buyin is 10 cigars?
can you post an example of a "good" buyin?
what are the planned payouts (1st, 2nd, 3rd)?

"good" is a use your judgement thing. Good rule is to send cigars you would like to smoke. Not going to get all hung up on this, as that's part of the reason this league was developed. This allows us "noobs" to play. Stay away from the brands we all know suck. i.e. Gurkha, RP, CAO(unless you have old CAO). popular include AF, Don Pepin, My Father, Tat. You get the picture

Payout will be 1st and 2nd(its what we have done in previous years) Split is 70/30

RP edge, CAO brazilia and Amazon basin are some of my favorite tho :)


Base on 12 players, I wanna suggest only pay out to 1st and 2nd, but 3rd win his buy in back, which mean 3rd dont win and dont mail anything. So from 4th to 12th needs to mail out the cigars, that makes it 90 cigars, 1st gets 60 and 2nd gets 30.


If we only have 10 players, then 3rd will lose half, that makes it 75 cigars, so the pay out is 1st gets 50 and 2nd gets 25.

what yall think?

Ill do my best. I have a couple of drafts that night. I'm the commissioner. 7PM on Yahoo and 9PM on ESPN. I am firm on those dates due to Firefighter schedules. Guess I will try having a couple windows open.

Congrat's to Dylan! Great season by all. My work schedule made fantasy difficult this year, but we had some great teams and the NFL teams made for some fun.
