Smoked a big honking Carlos Fernandez custom roll tonight. 109 format and supposedly the Partagas Gran Reserva blend. Rolled in February 2014. Could still use more down time.

Oragnic Criollo from Vinales.

Fairly Sweet. Nice spice. i think there is a distinct characteristic on cubans.

Up until about 4 years ago, I smoked Cubans mainly in the warmer months and then would switch to heavier Nic sticks in fall or early winter. Think it was 2013 when I never made the switch back to Nicaraguan when it got colder. I would smoke the occasional Opus X or Davidoff or Avo Hertiage/ELs. This year, for some unknown reason, I've started smoking quite a bit more nonCuban during these cooler months in South Texas. Still probably smoke more Cuban than anything else but the ratio is a drastic change.

Taste buds: I find that my palate stays cleaner when I smoke Cubans almost exclusively. The Nics tend to leave a film on the tongue but Dr. Tung's Tongue scraper helps keep the palate clean and improves general mouth condition. Keeping a fresh mouth gives you more bang for the "twang"!

Received the cigar case on Jan 19.

Somewhat surprised, was not expecting anything.

Had an Boli PC from '10. Not generally one of my favored marcas, but this one was outstanding.

Funny, now that I think about it, I recently said something very similar about a PSD4 from '10. Maybe the 2010 Bolis and Partagas are just now approaching my sweet spot. Might have to do a little rummaging

For years I have cleansed my palate as follows a little water with lemon. Then a piece of French bread. The water with lemon would serve the same purpose as the apple. The French bread cleanses the lemon.

Anyone want to trade a few Q'dO? Don't have much experience and would like to try a few before box purchase.

Just buy the box. You will not be disappointed, and if you are they'll be easy to unload on one of us.

MAR 15 R&J No 2 Tubo - Really impressed with how flavorful and smooth the cigar was considering it was a $5 smoke. I bought a box of these so I hope they continue to perform well.

Montecristo No. 2

Nov. 2009

Broadening my horizons - I've had No. 2s from other marcas (Dip, Partagas, H. Upmann) but never a Monte...until tonight. Thanks to RFenst for the pocket lint trade last year.

So how was your first Montecristo #2? Funny set of circumstances as that's usually the first Pyramid and often the first Cuban cigar many people try.

my first one was spectacular, since then I have had many good ones, many so so or worse, but never attained that amazing level of the Cuban twang again.
