The Boli PC is legendary.IMHO it is the PC all others are judged by.While I like a lot of other cigars in this size range only 2 come close to the Boli.......Party Shorts and HU PC's.RyJ Coronito's En Cedro are excellent as well but are an entirely different genre.Partagas Petite Coronas Especiales are another magnificent PC but they need a looooooong nap in order to really shine.

The Boli Corona Junior is a decent smoke but lacks the complexity and fullness of the PC.

If a punch in the mouth is what you're after Eric....then I'd suggest sticking to your NCs for that. That's what they're good at IMO, at least a lot of the high ligero stuff that's out there. Giving you a good buzz and making you wake up the next morning like you licked an ashtray clean. That's primarily one of the reasons I sought out cubans and have stuck to them almost exclusively. I've never had a cuban that's given me that 'kick in the face' sensation, but i've had plenty that i've felt were full-bodied. But I say that in terms of flavor moreso than the nicotine kick.

The 'strongest' cuban marcas IMO are Bolivar, Partagas, some RA and RyJ. Boliva Beli Fino is historically quite a strong cigar...but as I said earlier, habanos are becoming much more approachable young than they have been - at least since i've been smoking anyways....which I know is not long compared to many here.

A few specific sticks I'd recommend you try if you're after something stronger would be the RyJ Cazadores (probably the most notorious 'strong' cigar in the entire HSA lineup), Partagas 898, RASS (young RASS can often times be quite agressive). Come to think of it, you smoke that 2011 RASS I sent you? Those were very robust when I first got that cabinet...but have tamed a bit since. Give that a shot if you haven't yet and see what you think.

I've never had the Serie C3 by the way. I chased cuban ELs from about 2008-2011, and haven't found a single one that was justified by the price tag. Cuban ELs, to me, and many others as well, are a marca unto themselves. Profiles are very similar year to year...largely due to the same fire-retardant dark wrappers these mostly come with. You want some fuller cc's, these would be good to try as well. For me personally though, I'm out of the EL game permanently. Give em' a try though, these may be what you're after. Each person is different.

I'm sure others might have some insight on the matter as well, but those are my .02 anyways. Beer

Thanks, Kyle. I'm still holding onto that RASS you sent, although I have smoked a few others that were younger, and did give a nice buzz. I mostly want that kick in the face after several beers, late in the evening -- at other times I find it to be too much. I had read a little about the PSC3 -- specifically that it was really strong for a CC -- and wondered if there were others. Thanks for the tips on the other sticks -- I'll check 'em out. Oh, and I'm just dipping my toes into the CC waters, and don't need to chase any ELs yet. I suspect my experience would be similar to yours anyway.

I smoked a Cuaba Salamon from '12 yesterday. I think it may have been too wet -- my buddy handed it to me at a BBQ so I don't really know about its storage -- but after some burn issues in the 1st half, the 2nd half was delightful. I don't normally have 2.5 hours to smoke, but in this context it was great. Anybody have opinions on that marca? I could see getting a box of something smaller.

07 RASCC - going to have to smoke these now -- they seem like they've actually backslid just a little bit...their time is now
04 RyJ #4 - I'm not an RyJ guy, but these are pretty special
11 LFDC UK - easily the best cigar I've ever had
10 PSD4 - 11's and 12's are good, too...but these are ready now

Damn you for saying that about the LFDC Dave...I've managed to refrain from buying these for quite a while now. Been tempted on way more than a few occasions though & I've heard good things.

Besides those, the Upmann Connie As have my attention. Connie As are more reasonable price wise, but still higher than a friggen CoRo, so might be a while before I pull the trigger. Will probably find a 5'er somewhere & see if a box purchase is worth it.

The Cuaba Divinos are very nice... well priced also. They're a 4x43 Figurado that gives you a good 45min smoke, which is just right for me at certain times.

I'll tell you, Kyle, every time I see a box of these pop up, I'm very tempted. Crazy. I was gifted two many months ago and now I still daydream about them. The finish was like nothing I've ever had. I could still taste it for hours after it was ash. Before these, if you'd have ever asked me if I'd pay $600 for a box of cigars I'd have literally laughed out loud. Now, it's all I can do to resist. Funny thing is that the predominant flavor that I loved was sort of floral-y. But it is the floral aspect of RyJ's that turn me off many of them. Crazy.

If I ever get real itchy for them again, I'll see if a split interests you.

If the '13 DCs are as good as the '13 Epicure #2s, you might want to hold on to them.

Thanks for the heads up. Admittedly, I've never tried this vitola. However, I've yet to meet an HdM that suits me.

Because they aren't strong enough, or does the flavor profile not work for you?

euodias, it has nothing to do with strength. HdM flavors just don't do it for me. At least not the ones I've had thus far. I particularly disliked a couple of them.

Turns out the vendor tracked down the recipient of my package and we're going to do a swap (with proper consideration to both of us from the vendor.)

I much prefer the VR's that got swapped, to any HdM that I've had previously. So, I'm good getting this sorted out. VR's are a line that I just love and seem to fly under the radar here in the US.

Smoked a LGC Tainos POS Abr from '07 last night. These took forever to come around but they are now worth the wait. Drool

When I smoked the 1st one six years ago I thought the POS box code was no joke. Tannic and no hint of what they eventually became.

What are your top 3-5 favorite habanos? Doesn't have to be limited to that...if you've tried something & it's let you down, that's good info to share too.

From n00b to cigar snob? Didn't I send you some you Felipe Gregorios or some other miscellaneous yard 'gars back in the day?

Lol @ 67. You very well could have Mr. Palanzo...couldn't tell you one way or another. Lots of smokes have come & gone from my mailbox. If so, perhaps those Felipe Gregarios were one of the stepping stones to helping me find my way to the dark side. So far that, I thank you sir.

'10 RASS
RA Extras
'13 Party Shorts

And this here JLPC I'm roking as I type this!

P.S.: F Cohibas. For that price, you'd expect quality at all times, right? Wrong! I've found them to be just as variable as any other CC brand, which is tolerable when you're paying $200 or less for a box, but for $300+!? Fuhgedaboutid!

Contemplating grabbing some Cohiba Lanceros, anyone smoked any of semi-recent vintage that can chime in as to how they are smoking? Not that I'll likely smoke them right away if I do get them....

Ain't that the truth Wheel...

Waiting for my 2nd ever 'HQ' purchase of Punch Punch to arrive. 1st was an HQ box of SD4s & now I'm hooked. Haven't really bought much from down under due to prior issues with confiscations, but they seem to have that figured out. Knock on wood.

Next up...

Either a BTO code of Siglo VIs or those Upmann Connie As that have been taunting me.

Nice pick-up, Kyle. It was all I could do to resist those Punch Punch. The $60 premium for HQ is what stalled me. I'd like to think that I can track down some non-rated or PE with 3 or more years age for less mark-up. Wish me luck. I do have some credit with them, and will probably send my next business their way anyway.

Yeah, it took me about 3 years or more to get over the HQ markup thing Dave. Been a member since 2009 & my first HQ purchase wasn't until just recently...if that tells ya anything. I buy so few boxes and it takes me several years to smoke through one, I figured it was worth the premium to make sure I get a great box.

Tonight...

Por Larranaga Regalias de Londres.....doubt it's possible for me to smoke a PL that suits my palate more than these have. Truly fantastic smoke.

Was in the DR earlier this year. Punta Cana. Smoke a few AFs, a couple Hecho en Habana Cohibas, and one DR Galiano. The Siglo III was terrible. Good construction, but no taste. The Galiano was the best.

They cannot get their cigars to me. Everything goes missing enroute... if you know what I mean

As to HQ and PSP, there is definitely a difference in color, oiliness and wrapper appearance. Many times PE does me fine, but sometimes HQ is the occasional way to go. HQ and PSP prices are for the birds, except when it is a hard to find; has some age or is a discontinued stick. Use their box codes and then buy the same codes elsewhere for a lot less (and with dependable delivery to the U.S.

Finishing a party short and coffee right now. I just don't share the same love for these many seem to have. They are either 12's or 13's I forget what year but I would take a HUHC anytime over a party short.

Guess maybe wait another year on them and try again?

'Monte #2 double ligero' custom roll. Pretty good for a fresh rolled cigar, but I think if you went into it thinking it would be a monte #2 with more of a nic kick you might be a little disappointed. You can't change the blend without changing the flavor.
