Back from dinner with the misses.

Since things were a mess earlier and some of the old basitds were getting all ruffled, I thought I'd put on something to cheer things up...

Any old skool rock & rollers up in hur???
Well, this ain't exactly old, but it's in the same vein AND, it's what I'm listening to...

JJ Grey & Mofro "Brighter Days"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpXTK7HD2Ls

..this dude hails outta Florida and he is absolutely phenomenal live, so if you dig that tune try to catch one of his performances.

Broadening my horizons thanks to Strikeanywhere

Alison Krauss - Windy City

Never listened to her before, got a slight Dolly Parton twang / vibrato on a couple of cuts.

Alison Krauss has the voice of an angel.
...and plays a mean fiddle, her roots being in bluegrass.

Try to find some of her early stuff with Union Station.
Her cover tunes are kinda hit or miss and that has limited her popularity in the mainstream.
I have not listened to Windy City yet.

A couple favorites..

Oh, nearly forgot, Alison has an excellent, simple cornbread recipe that I've used for years....

Sings, plays fiddle and an excellent cook. ..dat's a keeper.

Listened to two old albums while driving last night. I was pretty bullish on both for a long time. One has aged well...the younger one not so much....

STP - Core. I was trying real hard to recall what I liked about this album. I even remember thinking that Plush was one of the greatest songs of the era. Most of the album is barely listenable now....Meh....

Michael Schenker Group - MSG -- Not as good as when it first came out, but it has stood the test of 36 years pretty well. I suppose a screaming flying V played by one of the true greats might have some sort of eternal quality that can't be undone by time

Paul Kossoff - Back Street Crawler (Deluxe Edition)

Such a talent (...but dead by 25...).

I remember when I first heard this album back in '73. Couple buddies and I went into a clothing / head shop and they had just put this on when we walked into the place. We ended up buying all 3 copies that they had. It was an import album so we paid a pretty penny for them. Still, "Tuesday Morning" is a great jam song.

72 F / 65% RH / 6 mph - another nice day but rain expected tomorrow or Friday.

Love this album.......I'm a Man is my favorite here.......Johnny Winter's yips and shouts are the perfect accent to Muddys growl fog

I saw Muddy sometime near Thanksgiving in 1982 in a little bar in Conway NH......a small bump in the road in NH's White Mountains. Very small crowd, maybe 30-40 people, but Muddy and the band played like there was 10,000 people.....they looked like they were having a good time.......good times =d>

Yup.

Btw, I think you meant "Mannish Boy" with Johnny's shouts and growls. Nonetheless, it is one of the highlights.
