I'd call it awful but it was just nothing. I ate a piece of banana bread before I went to the garage. All I could taste with each puff was warm air and banana bread residuals. I could see the smoke, faintly smell the smoke, but that was all it did for my senses. Can't truly be awful if it's nothing. But I spose it's awful cause it's just an air heating device and not a cigar. |

Huzza3045 wrote:Can someone fill me in on the CBID lore about the darklord trade? It's not a cbid thing it's a danm thing. I used to trade beers from 3 Floyds often. Darklord is their $50/bottle once a year event only release and at the event you buy tickets for a chance to get to buy bottles. I had a few left in my cellar and instead of trading to people I know I traded with a stranger and got hosed. To be fair, he sent equivalent msrp cigars to what I paid for the beer. But these were unobtainable bottles that sell for hundreds of dollars on secondary market, not just regular limited beers. I'm not attributing malice, I think it was ignorance. Regardless, it was done and I attribute any cigars I didn't purchase when I post them in this thread hence "darklord trade" |

And tenski sold out of the Lirio Rojo. As far as they were concerned, mission accomplished. I'mma thinking the LRs were in stock for a few months and weren't moving so better to sell them at a lower profit margin than to have them sit in their warehouse collecting dust...or worse yet, getting damaged and become unsaleable. Makes me think of American Pickers where some people are too attached to their stuff to sell, even if their (ridiculous) price is met. Their emotions get the better of them. No such thing at Tenski. |

82600: AJF Ava Maria Reconquista. Put off buying these because of the coffin they come in. Even though I really like AJF's blends I back off of they just because they looked too gimmicky. They look like something that you get a couple and put in your humidor to look cool. I got a bargain on them so I bit.
Boy was I ever wrong. Upon first look they are different. A long torpedo with an almost black wrapper. They have the scent of a fine well aged tobacco.
Once lit your tongue is bombarded with a smoothness that isn't displayed in full cigars without additional aging. The flavors stay constant all the way to the nub with only slight changes. There was little of the pepper ending so common in most cigars you have just received. This trait reminds of Padrons that arrive ready to smoke.
Final assessment: This cigar to me is a top contender from AJ Fernandez. Quite possible his best yet. There was no harshness anywhere in this blend. If you don't age your cigars for a long time this is a cigar you definitely need to try. If you are into aging this stick has huge possibilities. I will be recommending this cigar to friends and even offering one to the lucky ones. I will be buying all that I see at a bargain to age. I'm not waiting my usual year for fear that they disappear or change of blends as so often happens in this hobby. Stay smokey and enjoy. |

My first time on this cigar. Beautiful dark chocolate Maduro, firm, tiny veins, virtually invisible seems, body smells like tootsie roll and foot smells like vanilla tootsie roll, cold draw tasted same and mouth tobacco is very sweet for a natural tobacco. Kickoff was black pepper and tootsie roll. Second third flavor reminds me of licking the spoon for homemade brownies. Minor touch up due to burn line OCD, nothing to complain about. Suddenly toasted nuts and dried orange, bridge mix comes to mind. Very prominent hits of Frangelico & cream. The copious smoke cloud has dissipated to normal. Cool smoker and I’m trying not to hot box it, delicious! Generous draw. Tiramisu now. Glass of Cabernet Sauvignon pairs excellent with/this full bodied, mellow strength exotic stick. Holds a 2” firm charcoal gray ash w/no problem. Finishing up second third black pepper enters the sweet chocolate mix. Retro is just now started to burn the sinuses a bit, in the best way imaginable. Installing patented Tele-nubber. Burn in retro vanished. Now baking spices and milk chocolate. That was a mighty fine smoke all the way through. John, molte grazie, that was quite an interesting and pleasant smoke! |

82610: San Lotano Oval Connecticut Had to do a follow-up smoke. I had smoked a fresh one the other day, 82575. This one's from 2012. The appearance is lighter, I can't remember but I think it is a real Connecticut. It's band is different because of a redesign at some point. The smell is heavenly to those who age cigars.
Upon lighting the smoothness is creamy and really excited the taste buds. This is truly a different experience than the fresh one. This cigar has morphed into such a delight to smoke it just makes it worth the wait and work to age it properly. The middle only builds in flavor. No harshness at al. The finish was as smooth as the beginning with no pepper on the mouth.
Overall I would recommend to people that like fine we'll aged mild cigars loaded with flavor. I'm tickled that I gave this cigar a drawer in the humidor. This is not always an outcome when aging cigars. The best part of the experience is this cigar hasn't plateaued yet. Already looking forward to the next. Stay smokey y'all. |

A bit of spice, balanced with a fruity sweetness. Texture is rich and creamy, finish sweet and nutty. As it smokes down there's a bit more of the MSA coming through but it's a mild SA, mineral and earth not filthy dirt. Still balanced. I like it. Good cigar. |

82622: E.H. Taylor Robusto I paid $22 for a fiver here on CBid, $4.4 per stick. I really wanted to try them and I paid quite the premium price. These do not meet the $3.00 cigar threshold based on my first experience. It has a Corojo wrapper and I think the Camacho’s can be had for $15/fiver easily if you exercise a little patience. I can’t think of other Corojos off the top of my head that are in the $3 range that are smokable. I can’t recommend the Taylor even at $3. |

Nice looking well built stick from Foundry Cigar. Not much on the nose, cold draw. Kickoff hits of cocoa and black pepper. Then the salty Mexican Andres and Sumatra sourness show up in mellow doses. The cigar smokes a bit “dry” but the flavor profile hangs in there with a moderate profile. The cigar is mellow in body and probably a tick lower in strength as far as nicotine goes. I’ve been wanting to try this for months but haven’t had the storage space to buy them. Thank you, John, for a pleasant smoke. |

82625 - Perdomo Cabinet Series Cameroon perfecto. This was the last of a long line of these that I smoked back in the day, the kind that came in the silverish cellophane, shaped kinda like a bowling pin except skinnier. This one was from '06-07. It held up really well to be 17 years old, still had plenty of body and flavor. It was a trip down memory lane. I felt 20 years younger smoking it. Thank you, Perdomo, for some really nice smoking time. |

Starts off just not bad. Tastes like kinda sweet hay. After an inch dry woody habano and a little spice. Thin texture, short finish. Fairly mild. Just tastes like one of the general/altadis legacy brands. Mass market cigar flavors. I'm not gonna push through. Tossed at about 2" in. Not bad, but also not my type. |

Starts off with a strong oily solvent note. Then shifts to boot leather. A terrible bitterness on the sides of my tongue, then smoke starts coming from a char spot in the wrapper nearly 2" from the burn line. Purged, cut past the tunnel and it continued even further. Cut it down to halfway and relit. Just boots and bitterness. Dreadful awful cigar. I'm sure it was a construction flaw but none of it was pleasurable. |

Large wrapper crack up by the band. Lit ok,so we'll see if that has an effect. First light flavors kinda both sweet and bitter, lil leather, lil solvent. Could be remnants from the previous 2 cigars. It passes, ramped up some spice blend, oak barrel note in retro. Dry texture. Burn line is straight, the big crack doesn't seem to have an effect. Texture got richer, finish sweeter, different spice profiles on retro.
